Privacy

This site minds its own business, too.

It runs no scripts, sets no cookies, has no forms and does no tracking. This page sets out the little that does happen when you visit, who is responsible for it, and how to ask about it.

Who is responsible

www.nowayos.com is run by Jon Anthony, who holds the nowayos.com domain and is the controller of the personal data described on this page.

To ask anything about it, write to privacy@nowayos.com.

What the site leaves out

  • No scripts. The pages are plain HTML and CSS, and the site's security policy tells your browser to refuse any script.
  • No cookies. The site sets none.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking. Nothing follows you from page to page.
  • No forms or accounts. There is nothing to sign up for or fill in.
  • Nothing from elsewhere. The fonts and images come from the site itself, so opening a page sends no request to anyone else.

What happens when you visit

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like every web server, it receives what your browser sends with each request: your IP address, the address of the page, the time, and your browser's description of itself (its user agent). Cloudflare uses these details to deliver the page and to protect the site from attack and abuse. It acts for the site under its data processing terms, and keeps the details for the limited periods its privacy policy describes.

Cloudflare's network spans the world, so a request may be handled in a data centre outside the UK. Its data processing terms include safeguards for those transfers.

Cloudflare also shows the site's owner totals of the site's traffic, such as requests by country. They are counts, not a list of visitors, and the site keeps no logs of its own.

The lawful basis is legitimate interests: a website cannot be delivered or kept safe without handling these details.

Cookies

The site sets no cookies. If Cloudflare's protection decides to check a request, for example one that looks automated, it may set a cookie of its own so that the check need not be repeated. Cloudflare lists those cookies and describes them as strictly necessary to provide its service.

If you send an email

Mail to privacy@nowayos.com is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a private mailbox. Your address and what you write are used only to deal with your message, and kept no longer than that needs. The lawful basis is legitimate interests in answering you.

Links to GitHub, the seL4 Foundation and other sites lead to sites with privacy notices of their own. The NoWayOS repositories are on GitHub, under GitHub's privacy statement.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Write to privacy@nowayos.com. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
